July 2013 Salisbury Plain Ride
The forecast for high temperatures meant most riders turned up early to start and we were well underway at 9.30am. No maps are required as the course is marked with arrows which put you on a track and you just keep going until you see the next one. 35 riders took part and had a fantastic sunny experience.
May 2013 - Savernake Ride
Four days before the ride, which took place on May 12th, there were very high winds and heavy rain. Fortunately the ground was dry so the going was actually very good on the day, and although there were many branches down, none were a real problem.
It was actually a pleasure, for the first time in 6 years, to be out marking the course. The trees were starting to look wonderful and there were bluebells and cuckoo flowers, and the feedback was so positive that the ride will stay at this time of the year in the future.
53 riders of all ages and abilities had a ride which they enjoyed, and only one set of markers had been moved, but thanks to a quick-acting steward I was able to put the ribbons back in the correct place with little inconvenience.
I have photos of some riders, so if anyone wants one please email
