Tell us about your local right of way

We need our supporters to tell us when a route is great and should be enjoyed by more riders. We will update our Facebook pages with the routes you recommend.

If you find a bridleway or byway obstructed, please contact the relevant parish council in the first instance.

Local parish councillors generally know about every landowner in their parish and the best way to approach each individual. This approach makes it likely that a satisfactory outcome is achieved without any ill-feeling or resentment (and therefore without any need to contact Wiltshire Council). In the first instance, contact via the local parish clerk is usually quicker than contacting Wiltshire Council, which has limited staff and resources and a long backlog of MyWilts reports to resolve.

If, however, it is a safety issue, then contact Wiltshire Council immediately.

If you get no positive response from the parish council, please contact Wiltshire Council using their mobile app or desktop browser MyWilts. This official report method will generate a report number. Please also contact us at this point, giving the exact location, date obstruction found, and the MyWilts report number so we can monitor the issue and, if necessary, chase up Wiltshire Council.

No response from your parish council or Wiltshire Council?
Report to us here

If your report is regarding a recent weather-related issue such as a tree fallen across a bridleway or water channel erosion, or overgrown routes, always report directly to your local parish council, who, where it is not their responsibility, can contact the landowner to arrange removal and also inform Wiltshire Council.

Frustratingly, bridleways are often not prioritised for remedial action, despite our best intentions.

The common response from Wiltshire Council is “there are insufficient resources.” However, submitting a clear report can often help.

Take it one step further and ask your friends to report in the same issue too. This will push it higher up the priority list.

#win#win

We arrange a Wiltshire Bridleways Association Pleasure Ride each year

Our rides organiser, Rosie, looks for suitable places to showcase some extraordinary Wiltshire landscapes from our extensive network of rights of way, enabling ride attendees to access land that is often not normally open to the public

BONUS!!! If you are a supporter with an up-to-date paid subscription, you will get an early bird ride notification and an entry fee reduction.
